See they not how God originates creation, then repeats it: truly that is easy for God. Say: ‘Travel through the earth and see how God did originate creation; so will God produce a later creation: for God has power over all things. (Quran, 29:19-20)
It is reckoned that two-thirds of the Quran is concerned in some way with a world that is to come after this world, and a life that is to follow on from this life, but how secure are we in our beliefs that a hereafter really does exist, and that we are not simply here for a short time before being dispatched to annihilation and nothingness?
In the third IFMT ‘God-talk’ workshop, we will be exploring both the rational and the scriptural evidence for a life after death and an eternity in which our actions in this world, along with their intentions, will bear fruit, be it sweet or bitter. Through the lens of God-talk we will consider the allusions and indications of the hereafter that are said to be visible in this world, and we will consider the ‘proofs’ of everlasting life that are to be found in the ‘beautiful names’ of God.
We hope you will be able to join us for a weekend of lectures, guest presentations, group work and lots of discussion.
